Working on this project was sometimes fun, sometimes challenging or even a little bit frustrating, but it was never boring.
See my project.
I really enjoyed thinking about all of the various learning aspects of education, and trying to figure out which things I wanted to include in my project. This required some narrowing down to keep the project to one to two minutes. To tell the truth, I also browsed through my classroom photos and permission forms to see what resources were already in place.
Next, I wrote my script, and chose the pictures I would want to use. This required a little playing around, as I wasn’t sure how long each picture would need to be showing or exactly how long it would take to read my script. I redid the order of the pictures and the timings a few times. I also ended up resorting some of the pictures to adjust with how it all looked together.
Finally I began to play with the technology. I made friends with Movie Maker by just playing with it and trial and error. Then I figured out how to get the pictures into the correct places and add any transitions or effects to the project. Then I had to get a microphone as my internal microphone was not creating a very high quality sound. It took me a little while and several tries to figure out the best way to record my audio and get it into my creation.
Next, I set up an account on Teacher Tube. (This was pretty easy; however, I lost a little time here as I started looking though the many videos and objects in Teacher Tube.) Uploading my video took me a few tries and a little grumbling. I was at home with a really slow connection and in hind sight I would possibly upload it from somewhere else in the future.
I was really pleased and surprised how easy it was to get the Teacher Tube video to appear in my blog. This is a feature is something I would like to use in the future to share some of my student’s work with their families.
